START WITH SOMETHING MEANINGFUL

What could you bring?

01 / A CHALLENGE

Share a problem worth exploring.

An age-appropriate design, research or enterprise brief could connect learning with a question from your organisation.

02 / YOUR EXPERIENCE

Help someone see the possibilities.

Offer insight into your work, explain different roles or contribute mentoring with agreed expectations and support.

03 / A WORKPLACE EXPERIENCE

Make work understandable.

A visit, project or placement could offer structured learning with clear aims, preparation, supervision and feedback.

HOW A CONNECTION COULD WORK

A shared brief.
A supported experience.

  1. Agree the purpose.

Employer and education partners define the challenge, intended learning, age range and realistic commitment.

  2. Prepare the experience.

Agree access, support, supervision, suitability and responsibilities before learners participate.

  3. Contribute and give feedback.

Learners investigate and respond. You bring context and feedback; educators guide teaching and assessment.

  4. Recognise what was learned.

Work, feedback and reflection provide evidence for the learner’s portfolio. Formal accreditation requires agreed validation arrangements.

ILLUSTRATIVE PARTNERSHIP

“How could we
reduce wasted material?”

A local maker brings a bounded question. Learners investigate and propose a response.

An educator connects the brief to relevant knowledge and capabilities. The employer explains constraints, reviews ideas and gives feedback on the learners’ reasoning.

The learner can then describe their contribution and what they would improve. The value lies in the learning and exchange, with no promised commercial outcome.

A fictional example, not an existing partner commitment.

MY SPACE / A PROPOSED EMPLOYER PERSPECTIVE

A way to connect
your contribution.

An employer’s My Space could help shape a brief, coordinate with education partners and contribute relevant feedback.

AI support could help clarify the purpose and prepare a challenge for discussion. Access would be limited to appropriate information; learner teaching, assessment and support remain with the responsible services.

CO-DESIGN THE NEXT STEP

What would make
participation worthwhile?

A manageable commitment. Clear responsibilities.
A meaningful experience for the young person.

The next phase needs employer input on suitable challenges, capacity, support and practical delivery. Partnership and contact arrangements are still being developed.
